My lovely friend and talented artist, Aubrey Park, hosted a little water color and line workshop a few weeks back. I have dabbled in painting here and there over the years, but never watercolor. I fell in love! I haven’t experimented very much yet, but I am having fun with a paper called Yupo. It is actually a waterproof synthetic (and 100% recyclable) paper. This makes applying color a difference process every time. I like to paint on the plain water, then add concentrated pigment, and manipulate the paper itself to move the water around and through the paint. But because the paper isn’t absorbent, you definitely need a plan before you start (or at least I do), or your colors will run into finished sections and ruin them…this happened with the below piece. I had to re- paint the right eye by the end. I digress, super fun, and really pretty results. Here is my second piece, Django!
Django – Watercolor & Line on Yupo
I am working on another piece now, but its a surprise for Piet, so no spoilers! Here are some pics of the process for this one.
