The holidays and those who love to decorate kind of go hand-in-hand. While we wanted to keep it low key this year (which also means not hosting a holiday party) we were still able to give the living room a little holiday cheer without going too crazy.
We usually cut down our own full sized tree, but this year we picked out this little cutie from a pre-cut tree lot on Hawthorne. I really like the layout of the room at the moment, and didn’t feel like re-arranging or loosing any seating to make way for a tree. Here is Piet getting it just right…
Some whimsy for the mantle. On the left is a darling little Christmas mason jar my friend Aubrey made, in the middle is my raccoon skull from under our back deck. He is on the mantle year round, but I gave him a little silver tinsel to get him in the spirit. And on the right is one of the ornaments I made out of wood slices I inherited after my friend Emily’s wedding.
Some cute guy getting ready to put the star on top! While its missing a few parts, I love this star we purchased one of the first years we were married on N Mississippi Ave.
And of course the stars of the show – my vintage Santa Mugs. I hope to have more some day, but these three bring me cheer every time I see them. Merry Christmas everyone!
