Hello world! My name is Django! I was born in Florida, bred and raised to race around a track and win humans lots of money! Too bad for them that I had no interest in such things. I was lucky, and instead of killing me, they sent me to an organization that drove me all the way across the country from Florida to Oregon! It was there that I met my new Mom and Dad in Portland. I now have my dream life. I sleep as much as I want, I eat twice a day, and I only have to take horrible rides in cars every once in awhile.
Earlier this month I went on a crazy adventure in the belly of a huge airplane. I was used to being in a crate from my racing days, so I was brave and waited and waited. Then 12 hours or so later I was with my Mom and Dad again and my new aunts and uncles in the Netherlands! I love it here even more than I did in Portland! I get more walks in very pretty places, I never have to ride in the car because we don’t have one, I have made lots of friends at the park, and it is not as hot here as it was in my old home. But I am encountering all sorts of new and sometimes confusing things every day (just like my Mom). So I decided to have a guest blog about my adventures here.
Right now I am still getting used to my new house. The main struggle is with all the tall, twisty, scary stairs! Before I came to Portland, I had never walked on stairs before at all. Even then, my house only had one set of big American sized stairs. But these new stairs are narrow, and all different shapes! Also Mom promises she will be painting them soon because I told her they were ugly. I might like them better then.
Today was fun because the my new mailman friend who dresses in orange and blue came by. He brought us a surprise packadge from our really cool friend Katie in Portland! What can it be?! It smells like treats for me…but Mom says I can’t have any. She was very excited about it though. I think that orange and yellow packaging means something good.
Aside from my walks in the park, Mom is mostly painting all the time, and my new uncles are coming over and making loud noises and drinking coffee. I love laying on the floor in the lounge – and on the new couch when Mom and Dad aren’t home. This is what I see most of the time while I am relaxing.
Yep, so far I like the new house despite the evil stairs. Looking forward to having all of the familiar household items that are coming here on a ship soon.
